DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – UPSTREAM OIL & GAS

Lead major gas developments | Influence JV decisions | Senior, high‑impact role

NESF is supporting our valued client, an upstream oil & gas company who are is seeking an experienced Development Manager to provide technical leadership across gas development activities and help shape long‑term asset value.

This is a senior role where your subsurface‑led development judgement will directly influence investment decisions, development strategy and JV outcomes across operated and non‑operated assets.

About You 

To succeed as Development Manager, you’ll bring:
  • Extensive experience in upstream oil & gas development planning
  • Strong subsurface capability with the confidence to challenge FCA/FDPs and forecasts
  • Proven experience working within JV environments, influencing outcomes through credibility
  • Exposure to capital projects, FEED and execution decision-making
  • Engineering degree (Petroleum, Reservoir, Production, Process or similar discipline)
The Role

In this Development Manager position, you will:
  • Lead upstream gas development activities from early opportunity through execution support
  • Frame and evaluate development options across subsurface uncertainty, cost, risk and schedule
  • Act as the company’s subsurface and development authority engaging with operators
  • Represent the business in JV technical committees and governance forums
  • Review and challenge operator work programs, budgets and FDPs
  • Provide development input to FEED, contracting and execution strategies
  • Mentor and support junior technical professionals locally and internationally
  • Apply development discipline to CCS and energy transition projects where relevant
This is a technically credible role requiring calm leadership, commercial awareness and the ability to influence without direct authority.
