The Draughtsperson is responsible for producing accurate and detailed engineering drawings for heavy engineering projects, including structural steelwork, mechanical components, plant equipment, and large-scale industrial systems. The role supports engineering, fabrication, and construction teams by translating design concepts and specifications into practical, manufacturable drawings.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
• Prepare detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics for heavy engineering projects.
• Develop fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings in accordance with engineering standards and project specifications.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and production teams to interpret design requirements.
• Modify and update drawings based on design changes, site feedback, or client requirements.
• Ensure drawings comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
• Produce bills of materials (BOMs) and assist with material take-offs when required.
• Maintain organized drawing registers, revision histories, and document control procedures.
• Support troubleshooting by reviewing drawings during fabrication and installation phases.
• Assist with continuous improvement of drafting standards, templates, and workflows.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities    
Proven experience as a Draughtsperson in heavy engineering, fabrication, mining, power, oil & gas, or industrial construction environments.
•    Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
•    Experience with 3D modelling and production of detailed fabrication drawings.
•    Understanding of heavy engineering materials, tolerances, welding symbols, and manufacturing processes.
•    Familiarity with relevant engineering standards (e.g., ISO, ASME, AWS, or equivalent).
•    Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and technical documents.

Education and Experience    
Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
Typically requires an undergraduate degree and broad experience or equivalent.
