Pay rate: 60-70/hr Location: Raleigh, NC
Duration: 7 months
Job Type: Full-Time, Onsite
Travel: Up to 75%
Shift: 7 AM – 5 PM

Position Overview The EHS Professional supports project teams throughout the full project lifecycle to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, standards, and internal requirements. This role focuses on planning, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving EHS performance on assigned projects or sites. The EHS Professional creates and executes the EHS plan, oversees adherence to it, and has the authority to intervene or escalate if non‑conformances occur.

This position requires an experienced professional capable of working independently, contributing to team goals, and providing functional guidance as needed.

Key Responsibilities EHS Planning
  • Identify applicable statutory requirements, regulations, and EHS risks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Provide EHS inputs during bid/tender phases, including budget considerations and risk factors.
  • Support project management in defining EHS requirements and responsibilities for customer contracts.
  • Develop project‑specific emergency management concepts.
  • Prepare the EHS plan outlining responsibilities, procedures, and execution steps.
  • Provide EHS requirements to procurement for contractor selection.
Implementation
  • Ensure all required EHS permits, authorizations, and certifications are obtained.
  • Implement a training program that meets site‑specific and regulatory EHS requirements.
  • Communicate EHS plan expectations to all stakeholders.
  • Review contractor safety documentation, including safe work method statements and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with customer and contractor EHS representatives on site execution and compliance.
Monitoring & Reporting
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and ensure adherence to EHS procedures.
  • Develop and deliver recurring EHS reports to site management and leadership.
  • Ensure proper documentation, investigation, and follow‑up of all incidents.
  • Plan and conduct EHS assessments and audits, following up on corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 2+ years of relevant EHS experience (or a Master’s degree for entry).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of EHS standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to a variety of situations.
  • Experience supporting projects and developing EHS processes or improvements.
  • Strong communication and training skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
