EHS Specialist IV
Contract Length: 9‑Months (March – December 2026)
Location: LaPrairie, QC
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hrs/week

The EHS Specialist IV will support the integration, localization, and execution of the safety management framework across the LaPrairie site. This role is responsible for strengthening compliance with local and provincial EHS regulations, enhancing internal safety systems, and ensuring operational alignment with corporate standards. The Specialist will lead assessments, develop policies, refine procedures, and drive improvements in safety performance through structured evaluation and implementation activities.
This is a senior hands‑on consulting role requiring strong technical EHS knowledge, excellent documentation abilities, and the capability to influence cross‑functional teams. Key Responsibilities

Framework Integration
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current safety management framework.
- Identify gaps, improvement opportunities, and assign ownership for corrective actions.
- Implement updates to the framework across all relevant departments to ensure alignment with standards and best practices.
- Review all existing EHS policies for compliance, effectiveness, and alignment with the framework.
- Develop new EHS policies to address identified gaps in safety, compliance, or documentation.
- Update outdated policies to adhere to regulatory expectations and internal best‑practice requirements.
- Ensure all policies are clearly documented, version‑controlled, and accessible to employees.
- Conduct detailed workplace risk assessments to identify existing and potential hazards.
- Evaluate risk levels using structured methodologies to determine likelihood and severity.
- Develop and implement mitigation strategies to reduce risk exposure.
- Track and monitor the effectiveness of control measures over time.
- Perform machine safety inspections using applicable regulatory and industry‑standard criteria.
- Identify non‑compliant or high‑risk equipment requiring modifications or additional controls.
- Provide clear recommendations for remediation and support implementation activities with teams.
- Review current LOTO procedures for accuracy, thoroughness, and alignment with regulatory and requirements.
- Develop new LOTO procedures where none exist or where coverage is insufficient.
- Update and standardize LOTO protocols across all departments.
- Deliver training to employees on updated or newly developed LOTO procedures.
Compliance Calendar Development
- Conduct regulatory research covering all relevant provincial and local EHS obligations.
- Create a compliance calendar detailing required inspections, reporting deadlines, audits, and renewal cycles.
- Continuously update the compliance calendar to reflect regulatory changes or organizational updates.
- Comprehensive assessment report of the current safety management framework.
- Updated and enhanced framework document for LaPrairie site.
- Newly developed and revised EHS policies and SOPs.
- Completed risk assessments and documented mitigation action plans.
- Machine assessment reports with recommendations and compliance status.
- Updated or newly created LOTO procedures and corresponding training records.
- A full regulatory compliance calendar.
Reporting Requirements
- Provide monthly progress reports to site stakeholders.
- Submit a final comprehensive report summarizing all completed deliverables, findings, and recommendations at the end of the project.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in EHS roles within industrial, manufacturing, or similar environments.
- Strong knowledge of Quebec and Canadian OHS regulations.
- Proven experience developing EHS policies, LOTO programs, machine safety reviews, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong communication, documentation, and project‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
