The Electrical Supervisor will oversee all electrical activities in heavy engineering projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality installation, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to manage teams working on complex engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Supervise, coordinate, and monitor the work of electricians and electrical technicians on heavy engineering projects.
Ensure all electrical work complies with company standards, local codes, and international safety regulations.
Plan, schedule, and allocate resources for electrical tasks to meet project timelines.
Oversee installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, including power distribution, control panels, motors, drives, and other heavy electrical equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues, providing technical guidance to the team.
Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, instrumentation) to coordinate project activities.
Maintain accurate records of electrical work, reports, and compliance documentation.
Ensure safety protocols are followed and promote a culture of safety awareness within the team.
Mentor and train team members to enhance technical skills and professional development.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience in electrical work within heavy engineering, industrial, or construction projects.
Proven experience in supervising teams and managing electrical projects.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industrial motors, switchgear, PLCs, control panels, and power distribution.
Familiarity with electrical safety standards, regulations, and codes
Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
Education and Experience
Electrical Qualification
18th Edition (desirable)
Professional certifications in ship repair, project management (e.g., PMP), or safety (e.g., NEBOSH) are highly desirable.
