Position Summary We are seeking a contract Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Representative to support a nuclear energy manufacturing site in Wilmington, NC. This role partners with site leadership, operations, maintenance, and project teams to strengthen EHS performance, ensure compliance, and drive consistent execution of safety programs—especially during peak project activity and start-up periods. The ideal candidate is hands-on, field-present, and comfortable leading conversations that prevent incidents before they happen.

Key Responsibilities
- Daily EHS support: Provide on-the-floor EHS coverage for ongoing operations and project work; coach safe behaviors and stop work when conditions are unsafe.
- Inspections & audits: Conduct routine safety inspections, walkthroughs, and observations; document findings and drive timely closeout of actions.
- Incident management: Support incident/near-miss investigations (fact finding, interviews, documentation), identify root causes, and track corrective/preventive actions to completion.
- Pre-job planning: Lead or support pre-job briefs, Job Safety Analyses/JHAs, and work planning to ensure hazards are identified and controls are in place.
- Program execution: Assist with site safety initiatives (PPE, LOTO awareness, hazard communication, ergonomics, contractor safety, etc.) and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate EHS documentation, inspection logs, training/brief records, and metrics reporting.
- Start-up / peak support: Provide expanded coverage during project ramp-ups, outages, or high-activity periods as required.
- Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors, project managers, and contractors to align expectations and ensure consistent EHS standards.
- U.S. Citizenship (export controls)
- 3+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, energy, or similarly regulated environments
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and practical hazard controls
- Experience conducting inspections, writing findings, and tracking corrective actions
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging field teams and leadership
- Experience supporting contractor safety and project/start-up environments
- Familiarity with incident investigation methods (5-Why, TapRooT, etc.)
- EHS certifications (OSHA 30, CSP/ASP, CHST, etc.)
- Experience in highly regulated / export-controlled or nuclear-adjacent environments (a plus, not required)
