Job Description: Forklift Operator I
Location: Markham, ON
Contract Length: 1-year contract
Start Date: ASAP / Urgent
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm
Pay Rate: $21/hour (CAD) Position Summary
The Forklift Operator I / Material Handler is responsible for supporting efficient material flow across warehouses and production operations. This includes receiving, storing, picking, kitting, packing, staging, and delivering materials in alignment with production schedules. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, is safety-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced, continuously improving environment. Valid Reach Truck certification is required. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform material handling tasks including picking, packing, kitting, staging, and replenishment.
  • Support put away activities for inbound freight and materials.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, bin audits, and physical inventory processes.
  • Sort, organize, and label freight, pallets, and warehouse storage areas.
  • Ensure FIFO and proper material rotation practices are followed.
  • Use RF scanners and SAP for material transactions, tracking, and documentation.
  • Assist with discrepancy investigations and report shortages or damage promptly.
  • Safely operate Reach Truck, pallet jack, and other material handling equipment (valid certification required).
  • Load and unload shipments from trucks and containers.
  • Transport materials between warehouses, staging areas, and production lines.
  • Deliver consumables, packaging, and production materials to designated cells.
  • Support material delivery needs for multiple product lines.
  • Prepare and stage kits and job orders based on production priorities.
  • Manage line returns and ensure materials are returned to correct stock locations.
  • Maintain warehouse and work area cleanliness following 5S standards.
  • Promote and follow Lean practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Comply with all PPE, safety guidelines, company policies, and EHS standards.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions or equipment concerns.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and production staff.
  • Communicate material shortages and delivery delays proactively.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Maintain a positive, adaptable, and proactive work attitude.
Qualifications
  • Valid Reach Truck / Forklift Certification required
  • 1–3 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or material handling preferred
  • SAP or other inventory management system experience considered an asset
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-oriented
