Reports to: Project Director and Site Manager

Role Summary / Purpose The Site EHS Manager is the organization’s Environment, Health & Safety representative on a temporary assignment at a large-scale industrial project. This detachment role involves providing expert guidance and practical methods to ensure regulatory compliance, protect personnel, and minimize environmental impact across all phases of execution. The Site EHS Manager works closely with site leadership, supervisors, and subcontractors to embed a strong safety culture and ensure full implementation of corporate EHS policies and procedures throughout the contract period.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure full compliance with internal EHS requirements, local regulations, legal obligations, and standards defined in the EHS Management System and site-specific procedures.
  • Support project leadership in integrating all EHS-related legal, contractual, and corporate requirements into the site EHS Plan.
  • Coordinate and implement site-wide EHS programs and initiatives, collaborating with site management, supervisors, and subcontractors.
  • Advise management on unsafe acts or conditions and ensure timely corrective actions. Report all EHS incidents, including Stop Work events, according to procedures.
  • Verify competency and qualification of subcontractors and contractors on site.
  • Facilitate safety meetings and Toolbox Talks for employees and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with corporate safety campaigns.
  • Manage incident and accident reporting, lead investigations, perform root-cause analyses, and track corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of EHS training, audits, inspections, and monitoring activities.
  • Oversee environmental management programs, including waste handling, air emissions, water discharge, chemical handling, and energy conservation.
  • Regularly review and test the site Emergency Plan, conducting drills and readiness assessments.
  • Ensure proper use, storage, and handling of hazardous materials and dangerous goods by qualified personnel.
  • Support the rollout and enforcement of corporate EHS policies and initiatives at the site level.
  • Supervise and mentor subcontractor teams to maintain high EHS standards and clear performance expectations.
  • Provide accurate EHS data and KPIs to support internal and external reporting requirements.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or industrial project environments, preferably large-scale projects.
  • Relevant EHS certifications (e.g., national safety officer certificate or equivalent competence).
  • Possession of SiGeKo Qualification (or equivalent project safety coordination qualification).
  • Excellent communication skills; fluency in English is required. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of EHS practices, including Lockout-Tagout, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Permit-to-Work, Work at Height, etc.
  • Ability to oversee and manage subcontractor EHS performance, communicate expectations, and ensure compliance.
