Position Overview
Our Client is seeking an entry level Industrial Engineer with a structural or mechanical background to support capital, maintenance, and reliability projects at the Client’s site in the Greater Baton Rouge Region. This role provides hands-on engineering experience within an operating power plant environment and offers opportunities to learn project development, field engineering, construction support, and project management fundamentals. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail oriented, and comfortable working both in the field and in an office setting.

Our Client is seeking an entry level Industrial Engineer with a structural or mechanical background to support capital, maintenance, and reliability projects at the Client’s site in the Greater Baton Rouge Region. This role provides hands-on engineering experience within an operating power plant environment and offers opportunities to learn project development, field engineering, construction support, and project management fundamentals. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail oriented, and comfortable working both in the field and in an office setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing project scopes, cost estimates, and preliminary schedules
- Support preparation of engineering packages, drawings, and technical documents
- Help maintain project records, action logs, and documentation related to compliance, safety, and quality
- Perform field walkdowns to gather measurements and verify existing conditions
- Support oversight of construction activities, including structural and mechanical installations
- Assist with resolving field issues, coordinating changes, and reviewing contractor work
- Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, structural details, and mechanical equipment data
- Assist with structural evaluations, equipment assessments, and design reviews
- Support procurement by helping prepare specifications and evaluating vendor proposals
- Assist with tracking project progress, costs, and key milestones
- Support schedule updates, reporting, and weekly, monthly project status summaries
- Participate in project meetings with plant personnel, contractors, and stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
- Strong technical problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred
- Experience working in industrial or power plant environments through internships, co-ops, or academic projects
- Familiarity with structural or mechanical design principles
- Basic understanding of construction practices or field engineering
- Exposure to CAD tools is a plus but not required
