Job Title: Inspection and Quality Lead
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Length: 6 months (with potential extension)
Rotation: Monday – Friday
 
Role Summary
The Inspection and Quality Lead provides senior-level oversight of inspection activities and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and industry best practices. The role leads inspection teams, implements quality control measures, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage inspection teams conducting quality inspections of products, materials, and processes in alignment with established standards and procedures.
  • Develop and implement inspection plans, checklists, and procedures to ensure thorough evaluation and documentation of quality attributes.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and procurement teams to identify quality issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Train inspection personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and proper use of inspection equipment to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics—including defect rates, reject rates, and customer complaints—to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address quality issues, deviations, and non‑conformities identified during inspections.
  • Conduct internal audits and supplier audits to assess compliance with quality management systems, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Communicate quality objectives, requirements, and expectations to internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers to ensure alignment and understanding.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to resolve quality‑related issues, improve processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
 
Role Scope
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, codes, standards, and organizational quality management systems.
  • Provides leadership and coordination to meet quality, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Contributes to risk management, root cause analysis, and lessons learned activities.
  • Enhances product and process reliability through continuous improvement and quality planning.
  • Influences stakeholders on quality‑related decisions with minimal oversight.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality management, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in quality assurance, inspection, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949.
  • Experience leading inspection teams and managing quality control processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma) preferred.
