Position Overview
The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Specialist provides expert-level support for instrumentation and control systems across LNG operations, with a strong emphasis on measurement systems. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME), leading complex troubleshooting, driving reliability improvements, ensuring compliance with industry and safety standards, and contributing to continuous improvement and strategic initiatives.
The specialist will partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, and other technical groups to support and optimize measurement programs. This role includes both office and field responsibilities, with a heavier focus on office-based program ownership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical authority for measurement systems, including analyzers and flow meters.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and failure analysis for instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Coordinate and execute maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize reliability.
  • Oversee and improve the measurement program, working cross-functionally with engineering and other departments.
  • Ensure all instrumentation and control systems comply with applicable industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of maintenance history, repairs, inspections, and modifications.
  • Support procurement and inventory management of instrumentation-related materials.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to maintenance personnel on best practices.
  • Manage contracts and budgets associated with the measurement program, including evaluating contractor performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and long-term strategic planning.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of a relatively new measurement program; experience establishing programs from the ground up is highly preferred.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, associate degree, relevant technical discipline, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 12–15 years of relevant experience in instrumentation, controls, or measurement.
  • Strong background as both a technician and planner in instrumentation.
  • Extensive measurement experience (e.g., analyzers, flow meters).
  • Proven experience managing contracts, budgets, and contractor performance metrics.
  • Advanced knowledge of control systems architecture and field instrumentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and other departments.
  • Oil & gas industry background required; LNG/cryogenic experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of PLC and DCS systems is beneficial, though the primary focus is on measurement systems.
