Our client is actively seeking an experienced Lab Technician to join their team out of Lima, OH! This individual will be responsible for performing routine and non-routine laboratory analyses to support safe, efficient, and compliant oil and gas processing operations. This individual would ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, and process optimization through accurate sampling, testing, documentation, and reporting! Key Responsibilities
- Collect, prepare, and analyze samples of crude oil, condensate, natural gas, produced water, and related process streams.
- Perform laboratory tests such as:
- API gravity, density, and viscosity
- BS&W, water content, and salt analysis
- Sulfur, H₂S, and other contaminant testing
- Gas composition analysis (e.g., GC)
- Produced water quality tests (oil-in-water, pH, conductivity)
- API gravity, density, and viscosity
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Accurately record test results in laboratory logs, databases, and reporting systems.
- Communicate test results to operations, engineering, and quality teams in a timely manner.
- Support troubleshooting of process upsets by providing analytical data and observations.
- Ensure laboratory compliance with company procedures, industry standards (ASTM, API), and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, chemical inventory, and proper waste handling.
- Follow all safety policies, including handling hazardous chemicals and working under HSE guidelines.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience - Associate’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Laboratory Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1+ years of laboratory experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial processing environments preferred.
- Familiarity with PH testing and working PH meters
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation such as gas chromatographs, analyzers, and titration equipment is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary operations team.
- Experience with wet test chemistry
