Laboratory Technician III – Research & Technology
Location: Houston, Texas
Duration: 9 months
Schedule: 40 hours/week (5 days on / 2 days off)
Pay Rate: Target rate $40/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician III to support research, technology, and pilot plant laboratory operations. This role involves performing routine and non‑routine laboratory analyses, wet chemistry testing, and hands‑on equipment support to ensure quality assurance and control of products and in‑process samples.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, mechanically inclined, safety‑focused, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with scientists and laboratory teams.

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician III to support research, technology, and pilot plant laboratory operations. This role involves performing routine and non‑routine laboratory analyses, wet chemistry testing, and hands‑on equipment support to ensure quality assurance and control of products and in‑process samples.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, mechanically inclined, safety‑focused, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with scientists and laboratory teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non‑routine laboratory testing and wet chemistry analysis on product and in‑process samples
- Support quality assurance and quality control activities for fuel products including jet fuel, gasoline, and diesel
- Prepare and analyze samples following established standard operating procedures
- Operate, calibrate, maintain, and prepare laboratory instruments and equipment
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and repeat analyses when test results are out of control
- Utilize a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to accurately compile and enter test data
- Prepare chemical stock solutions, reagents, and testing standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
- Conduct routine housekeeping and complete Loss Prevention Self Assessments
- Participate in Test Method Assessments and safety observations to ensure compliance and safe work practices
- Support pilot plant operations, including:
- Understanding and maintaining extraction units
- Collecting fluid samples
- Making unit adjustments per test instructions
- Transferring fluids between frac tanks and 300‑gallon totes
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or Technology (Chemical, Process, or Technical background preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience
- Strong hands‑on, mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment
- Experience working in a laboratory or quality control environment
- Proficiency with computers and laboratory data systems (LIMS experience preferred)
- Ability to follow detailed technical instructions accurately
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting and reporting technical work
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Highly technical background with strong troubleshooting skills
- Experience working in pilot plant or process‑scale laboratory environments
- Proven team player with flexibility and adaptability in dynamic work settings
