About the Role
You will operate as a key part of the drafting and design group—producing high‑quality project deliverables, developing conceptual layouts, and providing leadership across assigned designers. This role involves working on full plant layouts, reviewing team outputs, and ensuring technical quality across all mechanical design deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce high‑quality 2D and 3D mechanical models and drawings from engineering calculations, sketches, and preliminary data.
  • Lead and manage mechanical design/drafting resources to meet project schedules, deliverables, and man‑hour budgets.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian and International Standards.
  • Develop plant layouts for materials handling and processing facilities.
  • Review vendor drawings, technical data, and ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain progress tracking for drawings and deliverables from your assigned team.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Support design reviews, constructability assessments, and project planning.

Your Expertise
  • Significant experience in Mechanical Design/Drafting.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Design Drafting or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor mechanical design teams.
  • Strong background in the layout and detailing of materials handling and process plants (full plant layout proficiency essential for Principal roles), with a focus on wet-plant processing.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication and construction practices within minerals processing.
  • MicroStation 2D & 3D proficiency (or similar design packages)
