Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay Rate: $25 p/hour

Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician (Facilities Technician) supports the Facilities Manager in performing a wide range of general building and facilities maintenance tasks across a large 200,000 sq. ft. facility situated on a 20‑acre site. This role involves hands-on repairs, upkeep of mechanical and electrical systems, support for vehicle and equipment maintenance, and facility safety inspections. Occasional overtime or weekend support may be required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform minor building and facility repairs, including general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC support, and painting.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating maintenance for company vehicles and rolling equipment.
  • Support preventive maintenance and repairs on shop and manufacturing equipment.
  • Conduct general interior and exterior building and grounds maintenance.
  • Respond promptly to work orders via the facility’s work‑order management system.
  • Inspect and maintain life‑safety equipment (monthly inspections required).
  • Develop working knowledge of facility plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Assist with office moves, including relocating furniture or cubicles.
  • Conduct monthly facility condition and safety inspections; report findings and recommendations to the Facilities Manager.
  • Provide receptionist coverage as needed.
  • Ensure proper care, organization, and storage of tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Follow all MSD safety policies, procedures, and STOP safety principles.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of facilities maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and best practices in building maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC basics, and painting.

  • Ability to interact professionally with employees, management, and external vendors.
  • Ability to follow maintenance procedures, prioritize tasks, and complete assignments independently.
