Job Summary:
In this role, you will plan, develop, and review Mechanical Designer work, produce 3D models, drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure mechanical designs comply with all regulations and standards.
The designs will be centred on mechanical systems and equipment, including materials handling components.
This position is designated as part-time telework and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities:
- Lead or administer work of Mechanical Designers and Drafters for a business line technology, including preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and construction drawings
- Develop designs for complete and complex 3D model equipment layouts and pipe designs with minimal supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed
- Prepare or assist with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations
- Monitor and check work for compliance with approved mechanical design standards to provide quality design, reliable and safe plant operation, and construction economy
- Participate in constructability reviews
- Prepare design and drafting procedures to standardise design effort
- Coordinate or conduct jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents
- Review mechanical design scope changes, as required, for project management
- Prepare or endorse reports on work progress for project and discipline use
- Ensure mechanical system designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards
- Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma (or international equivalent) with 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience
- Experience with mechanical equipment 3D modelling and drawing production using Autodesk Inventor and MicroStation
- Familiar with the layout, design development, 3D modelling, and drawing production of typical mechanical equipment within mining and metals projects
- Experience with materials handling equipment including conveyors, bins, chutes, feeders, hoppers, mills, and lifting equipment
