An experienced Mobile Maintenance Superintendent is sought to join a large-scale mining operation in Papua New Guinea on a long-term contract basis. This senior role is critical in driving maintenance planning excellence, improving asset reliability, and maximising availability across a large mobile equipment fleet.
About the Role Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for leading maintenance planning, scheduling, and reliability strategies for heavy mobile mining equipment. The role operates on a favourable FIFO roster, supporting a strong work–life balance. You will collaborate closely with execution teams, operations, engineering, and supply chain to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance delivery.

You will collaborate closely with execution teams, operations, engineering, and supply chain to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead short, medium, and long-term maintenance planning for mobile equipment
- Develop and implement reliability strategies to improve fleet performance and availability
- Drive defect elimination, RCA, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Align maintenance plans with production requirements and site priorities
- Monitor and improve key maintenance KPIs (availability, MTBF, MTTR, backlog, schedule compliance)
- Support budget preparation, cost control, and optimisation initiatives
- Lead, mentor, and develop planners and reliability personnel
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, statutory requirements, and site policies
- Trade or tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong experience in mobile maintenance planning and reliability within mining or heavy industry
- Proven leadership experience at Superintendent or senior planning level
- Strong CMMS experience (SAP, Pronto, Ellipse or similar)
- Solid understanding of reliability engineering tools and maintenance strategies
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Previous PNG or remote operations experience highly regarded
