Overview
The Project Controls Planning & Scheduling Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and overseeing project schedules and plans for the entire project. This role ensures that all phases of the project are planned and executed efficiently, on time, and within scope. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in planning and scheduling within the mining or heavy civil construction industry, strong leadership capabilities, and proficiency in industry‑standard scheduling software.

The Project Controls Planning & Scheduling Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and overseeing project schedules and plans for the entire project. This role ensures that all phases of the project are planned and executed efficiently, on time, and within scope. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in planning and scheduling within the mining or heavy civil construction industry, strong leadership capabilities, and proficiency in industry‑standard scheduling software.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and plans to support timely delivery of project objectives.
- Coordinate with EPCM project teams to gather schedule data, perform analysis, identify trends, and resolve scheduling conflicts or delays.
- Utilize scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project to manage project schedules and plans.
- Monitor project progress and update schedules to reflect actual performance.
- Support project risk management by identifying schedule‑related risks, performing cost‑benefit analyses, and contributing to mitigation strategies.
- Prepare scheduling inputs for project status reports, variation analyses, and weekly/bi‑weekly/monthly reporting across all EPCMs for management and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in planning and scheduling on large‑scale capital projects.
- Professional certifications such as PMP or CCP are considered an asset.
- Proven experience as a Planning and Scheduling Specialist with strong knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
- Proficiency with project management software, including Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and project execution methodologies.
- Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Mining industry experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead across functional and project teams.
