About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Contracts to lead the end‑to‑end procurement and contract management of high‑value underground and open pit mining services. This role is critical in driving commercial value, optimising contractor performance, and ensuring strong commercial governance across major operational contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of complex, high-value mining services contracts across their full lifecycle from strategy and sourcing through negotiation, administration, variations, and close‑out.
  • Deliver robust procurement processes including tender development, commercial evaluation, recommendations, and negotiation aligned with governance requirements.
  • Administer contracts to ensure compliance with commercial terms, including assessment of claims and support for timely dispute resolution.
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to internal stakeholders to support informed and effective decision‑making.
  • Leverage market intelligence, industry trends, and cost drivers to secure strong commercial outcomes.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with suppliers and internal teams to enhance performance and resolve commercial issues.
  • Drive strong contract governance, probity, and risk management across all procurement and contracting activities.
  • Analyse spend, performance, and market data to identify cost optimisation and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Align contracting strategies to operational and growth priorities, supporting safe and effective business delivery.
About You 
  • Experience managing high-value, high-risk contracts within mining services.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Procurement, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering end‑to‑end procurement and contracting processes, including tendering, evaluation, contract drafting, negotiation, and ongoing contract management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building capability across operational, corporate, and supplier environments.
  • Sound judgement and experience in claim and dispute management, including interpretation of complex contracts.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market and performance data and support data‑driven decisions.
