PROCUREMENT OFFICER (EQUIPMENT)

The Procurement Officer (Equipment) is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the procurement of equipment and related supplies to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This role involves supplier management, compliance with procurement policies, and coordination with internal stakeholders to meet organisational needs.
 
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for equipment and related services.
  • Source, negotiate, and procure equipment based on organizational requirements and budget constraints.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, contracts, and procurement documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and supplier contracts.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure timely delivery, quality standards, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to understand equipment requirements and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal requirements, and organizational standards.
  • Conduct market research to stay updated on trends, pricing, and availability of equipment.
  • Support the development of procurement strategies to optimize cost savings and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in resolving procurement-related issues, including disputes, delays, or quality concerns.
  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in procurement, preferably in equipment or industrial supplies.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and supplier management.
  • Proficiency in procurement software, Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP systems.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ethical and transparent in procurement dealings.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to challenges.
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
Typically requires an undergraduate degree and broad experience or equivalent. Working Environment Standard Office Environment. May be required to travel and/or have overnight trips.  Hours worked may exceed regular schedule. Physical Effort Little chance of injury. Duties may involve sitting, standing, keyboarding with frequent flexible breaks.
