Project Controls Cost Engineer Location: Alaska‑based role with travel across North America (Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver)

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Cost Engineer to join a major capital project environment within the mining sector. This role plays a critical part in developing, maintaining, and integrating cost control systems to support successful project execution. You will work closely with project managers, engineering, procurement, and EPCM teams to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project cost budgets and forecasts.
- Coordinate with EPCM teams to collect schedule data, analyze trends, and resolve cost, budget, and forecast issues.
- Utilize cost control and forecasting tools to monitor and manage project performance.
- Conduct cost analysis, forecasting, and variance analysis to support project planning and execution.
- Identify cost‑related risks, perform cost‑benefit analyses, and support risk mitigation strategies.
- Prepare cost inputs for project status reports, including weekly, bi‑weekly, and monthly reporting for leadership and stakeholders.
- Monitor project expenditures and provide cost control recommendations to project and management teams.
- Analyze discrepancies between estimated and actual project costs to drive corrective actions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Professional certifications such as PMP or CCP are highly regarded.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in project cost engineering on large‑scale capital projects.
- Mining industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong expertise in cost engineering principles, financial forecasting, cost accounting, and risk analysis.
- Proficiency with project management and cost control software.
- Highly analytical with strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and lead across multifunctional project teams.
