Job Title: Project Controls Lead (Oil & Gas Projects)
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Project Controls Lead to support large and complex oil & gas projects, primarily brownfield and operating facility projects. The role is responsible for leading project planning, scheduling, cost control, progress measurement, and contractor claims management across the full project lifecycle.
This is a senior role involving close coordination with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within approved budgets. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and control of integrated project schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and shutdown activities.
  • Monitor project progress and performance against approved baselines and identify schedule delays or risks.
  • Track project costs, control expenditures, and forecast final project costs (EAC) against approved budgets.
  • Prepare accurate and timely project controls reports, including schedule status, cost status, variance analysis, and trends for management and stakeholders.
  • Support project teams with planning and cost control deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and assess contractor claims for extension of time (EOT), additional costs, and change orders through detailed schedule and cost analysis.
  • Evaluate time and cost impacts of scope changes and support change management processes.
  • Analyse delays and advise on the application of liquidated damages (LDs) where applicable to protect company interests.
  • Support development of EPC contract strategies, baseline schedules, pricing schedules, and milestone payment structures.
  • Ensure contractors’ planning, progress measurement, and reporting procedures align with company project controls standards.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership to project controls team members and guide contractor planning teams.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in the oil & gas industry with strong exposure to:
    • Project planning and scheduling
    • Cost control and budget management
    • EPC projects and brownfield / operating facilities
    • Experience across project phases including engineering (FEED / detailed design), procurement, construction, commissioning, and shutdowns.
    • Prior experience in a lead or supervisory project controls role is preferred. Technical Skills
      • Strong hands-on experience with Primavera P6 or equivalent planning tools.
      • Solid knowledge of project cost control, forecasting, and progress measurement techniques.
      • Experience in contractor claims analysis, delay analysis, and change management.
      • Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems is an advantage.
      • Advanced skills in MS Excel and reporting tools.
