Project Geotechnical Engineer – FIFO (PNG)

We are seeking an experienced Project Geotechnical Engineer to support an open pit mining operation in Papua New Guinea. This site-based role will focus on geotechnical monitoring, instrumentation management, slope stability monitoring and supporting pit operations through data analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee installation and management of geotechnical monitoring instrumentation
  • Ensure monitoring data is collected, reviewed and uploaded to site systems
  • Conduct daily review of slope monitoring data and provide weekly reporting
  • Review and update monitoring plans and Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPs)
  • Coordinate survey pick-up of instrumentation locations
  • Ensure depressurisation holes are drilled in accordance with design
  • Support geotechnical data collection including photogrammetry
  • Assist site engineering teams with monitoring and reporting activities
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an operational open pit mine
  • Experience with slope monitoring and geotechnical instrumentation
  • Strong technical reporting and data analysis skills
  • Ability to work in remote site environments and mentor local teams

  • FIFO roster: 21 days on / 21 days off
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Flights, accommodation and meals provided while on roster
  • Experience working in PNG or remote international mining operations highly regarded
