Our Client a MNO company in Basra / Iraq are looking for Local national as Project Telecom Engineer to join their operation in Ratawi project .
Corporate Network (LAN (Wireless and Cabled) , MAN ( Fiber , Microwave , ..) and WAN) & Entertainment systems + GSM • Industrial Telecom and Critical systems (Radio system, Radio links, microwave, VHF, satellite links, fiber optics, CCTV, PAGA, access control, etc.) • Several sites (Affiliate Head office, production site, projects, ..)
Activities
Operations:
• The incumbent is responsible for administrating, configuring, and maintaining the networks elements of the affiliate’s different sites: Corporate (including Telephony over IP), Industrial and Entertainment (Radio system, Radio links, microwave, VHF, satellite links, fiber optics, CCTV, PAGA, access control, etc.)
• Monitor the systems and network performance and take the necessary measures to ensure their stability and evolution; and that they are up to date and comply with the company cybersecurity policies.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and solve any problems that arise with networks and telecoms systems, including root cause analysis and escalate incidents if necessary.
• Maintain and recommend network installation to reduce operational cost • Supervise, coordinates and follow-up the activities of the external telecom suppliers and providers.
• Coordinate and Follow-up with the authorities for the licenses of the telecom systems.
• Ensure the security of the Data Network infrastructure by implementing industry and Company best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and maintain documentation about current environment setup, standard operating procedures, and best practices. • Maintain and recommend Data Network installation to reduce operational cost
Projects:
• Organize, co-ordinate and control all the activities related to the physical and logical installation of Telecommunication networks, on both corporate and industrial side. This includes managing projects with subcontractors.
• Ensure the smooth integration of new buildings / sites in the overall network architecture, within time and budget allocated, and in coordination with the infrastructure team on site.
• Design the overall architecture for the different networks, taking into account cybersecurity policies and long-term evolution
• Proactively propose enhancements to the IT architecture
Other duties and responsibilities.
• Close collaboration and coordination with Telecom Engineers
• Ensure that the Company Rules and specification are applied
• Collaborate with IT support personnel and participate in IT helpdesk support.
• Cross sharing knowledge with the other IT team members
• Ensure that the inventory of all networks elements (Links, Hardware, ...) are up do date and contribute to the procurement of new services including preparation of the BOM or scope and evaluating the offers.
• Regular reporting to IT management.
Context and environment
• The position is Rotational basis and will be supporting the other sites of the affiliates.
• The incumbent responsibilities go above the traditional corporate network, with in addition the industrial safety critical networks like CCTV, Access control, Radio, and Public Address General Alarm, …
Accountabilities
• The Telecom Engineer is responsible for the implementation, support and availability of the different networks telecom systems on the sites under their responsibility.
• Ensures HSE requirements are considered when designing, implementing, or maintaining a telecom solution; Ensure zero LTI in Telecom and IT operations and project activities.
• Ensures with L-ECSO and L-ICSO that security measures are compliant with Company recommendations and specifications Qualifications/Experience required
• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication engineering, or Information Technology, or a related field.
• IT and Telecom technical skills with minimum 5 years’ experience • Good knowledge of various communication protocols (TCP/IP, IPSec, and Wireless, …) , equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, telephony systems and other data communication systems) , and Voice and collaborative systems (IP and Analogue and videoconference)
• Strong knowledge of transmission and communication systems in industrial environment (radio links, microwave, VHF, satellite links, fiber optics, CCTV, PAGA, access control, etc.)
• CCNP (routing and switching) certification required
• Other competencies: adaptability, ability to learn on the fly, Enthusiasm, Attention to detail
• Very good English & Arabic
