Research Scientist – Fungicide Biokinetics & Fungal Genetics

Join our clients dynamic Bioscience team in Crop Protection as a Research Scientist, where your expertise will drive breakthroughs in understanding fungicide behavior and fungal pathogen biology. This unique role offers an exciting blend of hands-on work in fungicide biokinetics and cutting-edge fungal genetics, fueling innovations that enhance crop health and agricultural sustainability.

In this role, you’ll design and execute in vivo studies to map fungicide bioavailability, apply molecular biology techniques including CRISPR genome editing, and analyze complex experimental data to unlock novel scientific insights. Collaborating closely with Science Leaders, you will contribute to high-impact projects within a supportive, safety-conscious environment at our state-of-the-art International Research Centre.

Required Skills

  • Proven laboratory experience (1–2 years) in microbiology and molecular biology techniques such as cloning, PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, and aseptic work
  • Solid understanding of genetic transformation principles and fungal biology
  • Ability to design and conduct in vivo biokinetics studies assessing fungicide action in fungi and plants
Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience culturing fungal pathogens including ZymoseptoriaFusariumPhytophthora, or Aspergillus
  • Hands-on knowledge of fungal transformation and CRISPR-based genome editing
  • Familiarity with ADME studies related to active ingredients and LCMS analysis for small molecule detection
  • Competence in handling large datasets, including analysis and visualization tools
  • Exposure to running automated laboratory workflows
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Microbiology, Plant Science, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred
  • Laboratory experience gained in either an industry or academic research setting
Other Requirements
  • Commitment to adhere to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards
  • Based at Jealott’s Hill Research Centre, with a fixed-term contract of an initial two years
