Senior Buyer  Location: Calgary
Contract Length: 2 Years 
Schedule: Wednesday and Friday from home 



About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to lead the procurement of materials and services across complex projects and key commodity categories.
This position requires strong procurement acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and deep familiarity with SAP. What You’ll Do
  • Lead end‑to‑end material procurement activities for assigned projects and commodities.
  • Conduct bid analysis and commercial evaluations of supplier proposals, coordinating technical reviews with project stakeholders.
  • Develop, issue, and manage RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and related procurement documents.
  • Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for purchase orders within your portfolio.
  • Work closely with suppliers and internal teams—including engineering, project management, supplier qualification, Legal, and Risk—to ensure successful procurement execution.
  • Bring existing industry relationships and expertise in interstate natural gas pipe, valves, fittings, and other critical material categories.
  • Interpret and monitor compliance with purchase order terms and conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and complete procurement records and updates in SAP.
  • Review bills of materials and technical specifications to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Identify and execute cost‑saving opportunities, process efficiencies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional partners to resolve escalated procurement issues.
  • Prepare and present insights on supplier performance, industry trends, and key cost drivers.
  • Proactively anticipate future supply chain needs through market research and data-driven analysis.
What You Bring
  • Mandatory: SAP experience specifically within a Buyer role.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and contract terms.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with suppliers and internal stakeholders in complex project environments.
  • Ability to analyze bids, interpret specifications, and negotiate effectively.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, preferably with suppliers in the natural gas pipeline industry.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
