We are looking for an experienced Senior Cost Estimation Engineer to support oil & gas and petrochemical projects by preparing accurate cost estimates from early concept through FEED and bid stage. Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Cost Estimation Engineer to support oil & gas and petrochemical projects by preparing accurate cost estimates from early concept through FEED and bid stage. The role plays a critical part in project selection, investment decisions, and management of change processes. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates for onshore, offshore, and subsea projects across all project phases including concept, feasibility, FEED, and bid evaluation.
- Develop order-of-magnitude, feasibility, and detailed estimates with accuracy levels aligned to each project stage.
- Review project scope and develop structured “building block” estimates covering engineering, materials, construction, and commissioning.
- Produce and verify quantity take-offs from engineering documents in coordination with design and engineering teams.
- Apply capacity factoring, location factors, and local market adjustments to improve estimate accuracy.
- Perform risk, uncertainty, and sensitivity analysis to support management decision-making.
- Obtain and assess budgetary vendor and contractor quotations for estimation and benchmarking purposes.
- Benchmark estimates against historical project data, industry norms, and KPIs.
- Maintain and improve cost estimation procedures, tools, databases, and historical cost records.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 12+ years of experience in project controls with at least 6 years dedicated to cost estimation.
- Strong experience in oil & gas or petrochemical projects.
- Exposure to FEED, pre-FEED, and investment decision support.
- Experience with brownfield and greenfield projects.
- Strong knowledge of cost estimating methodologies and norms.
- Experience using estimating software and advanced Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders.
