We are currently recruiting a Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer for a Global Energy EPC on an initial 6-month contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, effective delivery of all electrical commissioning activities within the onshore project portfolio. The role supports the Commissioning Manager in planning and executing commissioning scopes, ensuring safe work practices, and providing technical leadership across electrical systems and multidisciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, effective delivery of all electrical commissioning activities within the onshore project portfolio. The role supports the Commissioning Manager in planning and executing commissioning scopes, ensuring safe work practices, and providing technical leadership across electrical systems and multidisciplinary teams.
Electrical System Responsibilities:
- Lead all electrical power system commissioning activities.
- Manage Work Pack (WP) execution.
- Provide engineering support, including troubleshooting and fault finding.
- Ensure start‑up readiness and ongoing technical support for electrical power systems.
- Manage power system handover processes.
- Oversee power cut-over and system transition activities.
- Participate in schedule and execution planning to ensure realistic and achievable delivery.
- Own discipline manning plans and support team selection and recruitment.
- Provide leadership, guidance and direction to commissioning and construction teams.
- Promote strong QHSE culture, ensuring hazard assessments and JSAs are conducted to project standards.
- Manage and communicate scope, schedule and resource requirements.
- Liaise with management, onshore support teams, and client stakeholders to drive commissioning progress.
- Assign resources for Work Pack creation; review WPs at IDC/Rev A/Rev 0.
- Ensure timely availability of materials, tools and equipment.
- Support estimation of manhours and durations for scheduling.
- Expedite Software FATs and review/approve sparing.
- Provide spares registers for RFI milestones; support procurement and logistics.
- Review supplier documentation, including FAT/SAT procedures.
- Expedite vendor mobilisation contracts.
- Represent commissioning in technical and philosophy discussions with client focal points.
- Plan, prepare and execute Pre‑commissioning and Commissioning HAZIDs.
- Drive punch list closure and review CCLBDs.
- Attend key project meetings (morning calls, weekly reviews, client calls, RFI meetings).
- Provide input for variation orders (VOs) and progress reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant electrical trade certification.
- Demonstrated experience planning and executing commissioning or shutdown scopes.
- Strong understanding of multidiscipline specifications, regulations, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Good commercial awareness.
- Minimum 8 years’ commissioning experience in onshore Oil & Gas projects (electrical background preferred).
- Strong background in greenfield onshore construction and commissioning methodologies.
- Competent discipline commissioning engineer.
- Proven QHSE leadership capability.
- Experience managing schedule changes and adapting to shifting priorities.
- Practical knowledge of materials, tools, consumables and requisitioning.
- Experience with Permit to Work systems and hazard assessments.
- 6 month contract with potential to extend
- 2 weeks on, 1 week off roster
- 10.5 hour days on site
- Point of mobalisation: Perth, WA
