NES Fircroft is partnering with a well-established mining operator in Central Queensland to recruit a Senior HR Advisor for a site-based 5/2 roster on an 18-month fixed term contract.

This role will see you working closely with site leadership to provide hands-on HR support across a large operational workforce, managing employee and industrial relations matters, coaching leaders on people management, and supporting initiatives that strengthen engagement, culture and workforce performance. Reporting to the HR Manager, you will join a small, collaborative HR team where the role requires both strategic input and the ability to be actively involved in day-to-day site HR activities.

Responsibilites: 
  • Provide guidance and support on a range of complex workplace and industrial relations issues, including leading investigations and managing disciplinary matters where required.
  • Partner with frontline leaders to build capability across performance management, employee conduct, leave management and general people leadership.
  • Interpret and apply relevant employment legislation, awards and enterprise agreements to ensure fair and compliant HR practices across site.
  • Support employees and leaders throughout key stages of the employment journey, including onboarding, internal movements and departures.
  • Assist in driving site-based initiatives that promote positive culture, engagement and employee wellbeing.
  • Compile HR reports and analyse workforce data to assist leaders with planning and informed decision-making.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive matters with a high level of integrity, professionalism and sound judgement.
Experience/ Qualifications 
  • Over six years of HR generalist experience, preferably in mining, energy, or comparable operational sectors.
  • Proven track record handling employee relations and industrial relations issues within a blue-collar workforce.
  • Skilled in coaching and guiding frontline managers to achieve performance and compliance outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of the Fair Work Act and the Black Coal Award.
  • Hands-on experience delivering HR solutions in site-based, operational settings.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including reporting and documentation.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s licence.
