NES Fircroft are currently supporting our valued client, Woodside Energy, who are looking for a Site Health and Safety Adviser, on a 2:2 roster for an initial 12-month contract.

Job Details

Woodside is expanding the Pluto LNG facility near Karratha in the north-west of Western Australia. The expansion of Pluto LNG will include Pluto Train 1 Modifications Project comprising of modifications to Pluto Train 1 and associated infrastructure to enable processing of feed gas from Scarborough.

Construction work for the Project is in progress with further commissioning activities expected to commence in H1 2026 and RFSU in 2027. Workforce is anticipated to be ~300 people at peak construction. The project has a focus on local contracting and supplier opportunities.

About the Role:

A site-based opportunity has arisen within our site Project team to undertake the role of Site Health & Safety Adviser. In this role, you will report to the Site Health & Safety Manager and directly support the site-based Project team.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Being actively involved in fieldbased inspections and reviews;
  • Intervening when unsafe behaviours or conditions are observed;
  • Performing verification of high risk work activities; 
  • Supporting and enabling Contractors to plan and perform work safely;
  • Supporting the Project team with the implementation of Company HSE management requirements;
  • Supporting and coordinating health and safety activities such as Field Leadership and risk assessments; 
  • Facilitating and participating in incident investigations and root cause analysis;
  • Providing health and safety information to support Project leadership with riskbased decision making; 
  • Leading training and awareness programs as required;
  • Supporting the developing of health and safety material for engagement with the workforce;
  • Supporting and demonstrating a ‘One Team’ Project culture and positive team climate;
  • Monitoring Contractors plans and work activities to ensure risk management processes have been effectively applied;
  • Participating in Contractor led health and safety activities, providing insights and support as required;
  • Providing technical health and safety advice and support to the Project team; and
  • Performing health and safety reporting to Project Leadership.
 Skills & Experience:
  • Certificate IV or above in Occupational Health & Safety or relatable field.
  • 10+ years working in HSE within oil and gas construction industry.
  • A thorough understanding of all relevant WA Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and influence multiple stakeholders.
  • Sitebased construction experience in Australia.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
  • Experience working in a Brownfields construction environment in a live operating plant.
  • High level of awareness in safe working practices associated with the design, construction, precommissioning, commissioning of onshore gas facilities.
  • Process Safety knowledge and experience.
  • Comfortable engaging with the workforce in a construction environment.
