Structural Geologist – Iron Ore
  • Structural Geologist – 6‑Month Contract
  • Perth Based, 5:2 with occasional site travel (80/20)

NES FIRCROFT are seeking a skilled Structural GeologistIron Ore to support multiple operational sites across Western Australia. This role offers an 80/20 office-to-site split, with some travel required to provide structural geology input directly into mining operations.


You will work closely with the Structural and Geotechnical teams to develop, refine, and deliver high‑quality structural models that support safe and efficient mine planning and production.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine structural geology models using multivariate datasets (drillhole data, mapping, televiewer, geophysics).
  • Produce structural interpretations and confidence assessments for geotechnical analysis.
  • Provide operational support through structural data collection, in‑pit reconciliation, and communication of structural risk.
  • Conduct structural mapping, photogrammetry interpretation, and validation of televiewer datasets.
  • Support geotechnical design risk assessments by contributing geological and structural model inputs.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and contribute to ongoing structural knowledge development.
 
About You
Essential:
  • Proven Pilbara Iron Ore experience (Mining or major iron ore operations).
  • Tertiary qualification in Geology, Structural Geology, or equivalent.
  • Experience interpreting geological & geophysical datasets, including mapping and downhole geophysics.
  • Strong background in open‑pit structural mapping, reconciliation, and geological/structural modelling.
  • Proficiency with 3D modelling software (e.g., Vulcan) and GIS platforms (ArcGIS) and prior experience in interpreting photogrammetry data will be viewed favourably.
  • Excellent communication and technical reporting skills.
  • Strong data management and analysis capability.
