Tape Librarian / Computer Operator The Tape Librarian is responsible for managing and maintaining all magnetic tapes, disks, and related media within the Houston Tape Library. This role ensures accurate storage, retrieval, verification, and shipment of all media while supporting daily computer operations and data management processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, organize, and track all media (tapes, NAS/USB disks).
- Verify and prepare all outgoing client media.
- Register, document, and file all incoming media.
- Manage tape pools (create, expand, reduce, label).
- Address catalog issues and media errors; log soft/hard errors.
- Retrieve, sort, file, and package media for internal use and shipments.
- Load/eject media in silos using generated task lists.
- Locate missing (“not in rack”) media and report findings.
- Follow all tape library procedures, QHSE standards, and quality requirements.
- Perform routine tape library maintenance and other assigned duties.
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of tape technician or computer operations experience.
- Strong computer/database skills; familiarity with MMS tape management.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, able to prioritize tasks independently.
- Good communication and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to lift 20–25 lbs; minimal local travel.
- US citizens or Green Card holders prefered
