Overview
Responsible for the technical management of Data Center project portfolio, acting as the single point of accountability for all technical matters across active data center projects. The Technical Manager provides oversight, coordination, and direction on technical execution. This role Buyer Reference ensures that client-provided designs are executed correctly, that technical interfaces between contractors and disciplines are aligned, and that technical issues are resolved efficiently to support construction progress. The position bridges construction, procurement, and engineering contractors from a technical standpoint, ensuring consistency, clarity, and execution readiness across the portfolio.
Objectives
• Provide centralized technical leadership and accountability across all Data Center projects
• Ensure effective management of technical interfaces, queries, and execution risks
• Maintain alignment between construction, procurement, and engineering contractors on technical matters
• Identify and drive modularization opportunities to improve constructability, schedule, and repeatability
• Support predictable execution by resolving technical issues before they impact delivery
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for the full project portfolio, supporting Program and Project Managers on all technical matters
• Manage and oversee all technical interfaces across projects, ensuring alignment between client designs, engineering contractors, PEMB suppliers, and construction teams
• Guide site engineering, interface management, and field engineering teams in resolving technical queries, clashes, and execution challenges without undertaking design activities
• Coordinate responses to technical queries (RFIs, clarifications, deviations) in alignment with client provided designs and contractual requirements
• Provide technical oversight of BIM and digital model coordination across projects, ensuring models issued by clients, engineering contractors, and vendors are aligned, constructible, and consistent with execution sequencing without performing model authoring or design work
• Ensure consistent interpretation and application of design documentation across projects and contractors
• Identify, assess, and promote modularization and standardization opportunities that improve constructability, reduce risk, and enhance delivery efficiency
• Bridge technical gaps between construction, procurement, logistics, and engineering contractors to maintain execution continuity
• Support technical reviews of supplier and subcontractor deliverables to ensure alignment with client requirements and execution strategy
• Provide technical risk visibility to Program leadership, highlighting potential impacts to schedule, cost, or constructability
Expected Experience
• 18–25 years of experience in technical management, construction engineering coordination, or execution-focused technical leadership on large-scale Data Center projects
• Extensive experience in Data Center projects
• Strong background in managing execution of client-provided designs rather than producing
engineering deliverables
• Proven experience coordinating multiple engineering contractors, suppliers, and construction teams
• Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical interface issues in fast-paced, multi-project environments
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management or 25+ years of relevant execution focused technical leadership experience
Nice to Have
• Experience with modular construction or standardized building systems
• Background working with PEMB structures, vendor-engineered packages, or multi-contractor
engineering models
• Experience operating at portfolio or program level across multiple concurrent projects
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Primarily Houston-based role with regular travel to project sites. Requires close engagement with Program Management, clients, site leadership, engineering contractors, and suppliers. Periodic site presence is required to support issue resolution, interface alignment, and technical reviews across the portfolio.
