Our client is developing a major oilfield in Iraq and is currently seeking 2 x Turnaround Leads to work on 28/28 rotation in Basra, Iraq.
The TAR Lead is a role reporting to the Turnaround Manager, and the incumbent shall develop and maintain an 8Q TAR Schedule for each facility in the region, consistent with the five-year rolling TAR schedule. Deploying company and contract resources to safely plan and execute major planned activities.

Key Accountabilities
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement
- Champion the nationalisation program through good leadership and mentoring Iraqi nationals
- Establish a defined Turnaround cycle for all assets that meets with key business objectives requiring shutdown intervention
- Performance manage the Turnaround Team, setting targets and milestones
- Meet Turnaround Milestones at all stages of lifecycle for multiple concurrent events
- Safe, systematic and efficient delivery of the Turnaround Program that meets with industry best practices
- Define an execution organisation ensuring capability and clear accountabilities trusted to deliver safely, on time, on budget
- Contractor Management during Turnaround execution
- Preparing an Annual Plan (in year) setting out key activities, costs, and resource requirements
- Prioritize the scope and duration of Turnaround activities in accordance with the approved plan
- Interface management and developing relationships with Operations, Production, Projects, Engineering, Maintenance and other personnel to optimize work execution
- Establishing and coordinating progress meetings with relevant asset, function and site personnel
- Supports capability training and talent development of Iraqi nationals for the Turnaround team
- Completions and Closeout Management
- Conduct Lessons Learned for all Turnarounds
- Recommendation on changes to scope following change request process for endorsement by Stakeholders
Essential Education
- Degree / diploma qualified engineer or equivalent industry work experience
Essential experience and job requirements
- Extensive and relevant industry experience in brownfield environments. At least 15-years industry experience with 10-years in TAR environment. Experience in most of world environments is preferred.
Desirable criteria and qualifications
- Key skills include communication, interpersonal relationships, facilitation, influencing, and negotiating
- Ability to develop others and foster diverse relationships in a multicultural environment
- Ability to identify correct priorities of maintenance and engineering support activities
- Identify and assess safety hazards
- Ability to speak Arabic would be beneficial but not essential
