NES Fircroft are currently supporting our valued client, a Global Oil & Gas Operator, who are looking for a Wellsite Representative to join their Well Services Team for an initial 12- month contract.
Roster is a fixed 14/14-day rotation but flexibility is required as WSR assignments move periodically throughout the year.
Description
The client operates wells on two assets. One asset consists of 888 wells and the field has been shut in and in the process of being decommissioned, with all wells required to be fully plugged and abandoned.
The other asset currently is comprised of 22 wells, either CO2 injectors, water producers, water injectors or reservoir surveillance wells, and are used for the CO2 CCUS network system. These wells require ongoing service, workover or intervention as required.
The clients Well Lifecycle Management department operate the Onshore Well Services group that currently have 4 workover rigs, 1 coiled tubing unit, several slickline/E-line units and offline pumping spreads.
The client requires this position due to increased activity and the position reports to the Wells Superintendent in the office, and works under the direction of the Lead Wellsite Representative in the field. The role will be required to supervise and manage the workover rigs and intervention units (slickline/E-line/pumping) that are associated with that role’s well queue.
This role may also expected to do some work in the office ahead of planned campaign work scopes to support the office engineers plan the operation, equipment and logistics. Participation in HAZIDs, ENVIDs and pre-job safety planning in the office, then executing the job in the field as per the HSE plans.
WSRs in the operation typically work a 14/14 day fixed rotation. Flexibility with schedule and rostering is important as the operation and team continue to evolve, and WSRs are rotated to manage different operations periodically throughout the year.
Mandatory required training before commencement of employment:
- Current well control (taken within the last 6 months) – either IWCF Level 4 Surface or Subsea / or IADC Supervisors Surface or Subsea
- Wellsite PTW for OCR
- Wellsite PTW for Permit Authority
Preferred experience:
- Land operations
- Experience in land workover rigs and land based intervention units (slickline, E-Line, coil).
- Well workover experience with sucker rod pumps, PCP, water injector wells.
- Well integrity diagnostics and analysis.
- Well plug and abandonment methodology.
- Remediation of gas behind casing isolation of sustained casing pressure.
Preferred skills:
- Workover, intervention and plug & abandonment of land wells.
- Knowledge of conventional and new surface wellhead / XT systems.
- Software and technology;
- Be a visible Operational Excellence (OE) leader

HSE, Regulatory and WellSafe Compliance
- Strive for Incident Free Operations (IFO) with a focus on eliminating Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIFs).
- Zero loss of containment (LOC) events, including spills.
- Maintain well control and WellSafe certification at all times.
- Maintain WellSafe rig certification – verify BOPE equipment certification package, degraded BOPE equipment and the inventory of critical spares list for rig BOPE.
- Witness, sign and document BOPE tests – pressure tests, function tests, accumulator drawdown tests.
- Understand all MAEs in rig safety cases and WA Oil Operations safety case.
- Understand procedures in the Barrow Island Emergency Response Plan and Cyclone Preparedness Plan.
- Understand and implement all HSE Bridging Documents for the rig and rigless contractors.
- Approve/acknowledge all permits to work (Wellsite Permit to Work or Client Control of Work).
- Understand and implement all commitments in the Environmental Plan.
- For well operations that are WellSafe Plan/Design and Execution certified, ensure that WellSafe Plan/Design certification has been approved prior to commencing the operation.
- Maintain all crews well control drill frequency and effectiveness.
- Monitor SSE crew percentage, sign off crew SSE forms and manage crew SSE mentoring.
HSE Incident Reporting
- WSR to attend to the location of the incident and direct crews with proper response (stand down, hazard hunt etc). Direct Wells HSE to gather information and commence the investigation.
- Work with the Wells Superintendent to identify the correct level of investigation required for the incident.
- WSR to follow up corrective actions from incident investigations.
Execute Well Procedures
- Execute well programs as per design and IFO.
- Maintain well control at all times.
- Actively lead pre-tour meetings and pre-spud discussions at the start of well P&A operations with crews.
- Review all well operation procedures and plans, verify lease conditions, well/wellhead conditions prior to rig or rigless unit move.
- Supervise well operations and adhere to the minimum witnessing expectations in the table below.
- Verify tallies of strings run in hole, depths of barrier elements (bridge plugs, cement plugs, tubing plugs etc) relative to known well depths (CBL logs, solid tags depths etc).
- Generation of POAs for unique operations not covered in SOPs.
- Generation of rigless slickline WSDS for slickline operations in which no downhole barriers are manipulated.
- Ensure correct lease handover / handback certificates are completed for all wellsites/leases taken from Operations to Wells. Manage all handovers of operational control between Wells sub-groups.
- Ensure a detailed written handback sheet is filled in and stored at the conclusion of a well workover.
- Follow written programs and procedures and recognize deviation points from the approved plan. Discuss any deviations with the Superintendent/Engineer and generate an MOC if required.
- Manage crew working hours in 12-hour operations and plan out days to ensure the most efficient use of the entire day time (no wasted time at end of days due to running out of time to commence an operation).
- Ensure well securement at the end of each day (overnight securement) or at the end of the well operation (if it falls in the middle of the day) for each well operation.
Maintain dimensions for everything run in well.
- Create and/or review all pipe tallies (must use last tally), straps, and joint count.
- Witness running and spacing of critical BHA components.
- Ensure proper fill-up and swab / surge pressures on trips.
- Installation of wellhead equipment and permanent downhole barrier elements.
- Witness any non-routine or high-risk operation.
- Ensure red zones are followed and visible to all personnel.
- Working at heights, lifting & rigging, hot work, confined space, well control, isolation of hazardous energy.
Reporting of Well Operations
- Maintain complete, accurate, and detailed records within WellView. This includes daily operations time log, cost data, WellSafe assurance data and wellbore component entered to maintain true and correct well schematics.
- WellView is the system of record for all well P&A operations.
- Review, QA/QC and sign all Business Partner field tickets. Ensure an understanding of the contract with rates, equipment packages and NPT clauses – engage the appropriate contract owner as required.
