Workshop Electrician – Montrose

NES Fircroft are supporting a major oilfield services client in the search for a Workshop Electrician to join their team in Montrose.

Role Details Job Title: Workshop Electrician
Location: Montrose 
Duration: 9 months (strong possibility of extension or permanent hire)

Hours:
  • Mon–Thu: 07:00–16:15
  • Fri: 07:00–12:00
    Weekly Hours: 40
    Overtime:
  • x1.5 standard OT
  • Saturdays: x2 after 4 hours
  • Sundays: x2
    Travel: Some ad-hoc travel may be required
As a Workshop Electrician, you will be responsible for the repair, inspection, and overhaul of rig equipment within a busy aftermarket operations environment. You will support critical “rig down” situations and ensure equipment is returned to safe, reliable working condition. This role involves working across a range of equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair, overhaul, inspect, and identify faults on rig equipment.
  • Produce and update documentation (inspection reports, parts lists, etc.).
  • Read, interpret, and amend engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Liaise with customers, planning teams, and internal departments.
  • Escalate key faults and track them through to resolution.
  • Promote and adhere to HSE policies, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Respond to emergency “rig down” situations when required.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, and HSE teams to drive equipment improvements.
  • Carry out timely fault finding and repair without compromising safety or quality.
  • Support continuous improvement of internal processes and systems.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant HSE legislation.
  • Undertake additional duties as required by business needs.
  • Travel on an ad-hoc basis when required.
Qualifications & Training Essential:
  • Time-served electrician
  • COMPEX certified
  • HNC in a relevant electrical discipline (or equivalent)
Technical Experience Essential:
  • Experience in overhaul, fault finding, and repair of heavy machinery or automation systems.
  • Working knowledge of AC & DC power systems, VFDs, hydraulics, and pneumatics (e.g., within FMCG or similar environments).
  • Experience in a similar onshore/offshore position.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents (P&IDs, ISO drawings, calculations, etc.).
