WTG & MV Inspector
We are seeking a detail-oriented WTG & MV Inspector to serve as the Owner’s Representative for large utility-scale wind projects across the U.S. The WTG & MV Inspector will be responsible for monitoring subcontractor activities related to wind turbine generator (WTG) installation and medium-voltage (MV) electrical systems, verifying compliance with project specifications, and providing accurate reporting on the progress and quality of all turbine erection and electrical collection system work. This role is observational and documentation-focused, with no supervisory responsibilities over crews.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the Owner’s on-site representative for WTG installation and MV construction activities, including but not limited to:
Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) Scope:
Observe and document construction progress, including photographs and detailed field notes, to ensure accurate tracking of installation milestones.
Prepare and submit daily field reports, inspection logs, and progress updates to the project team.
Track subcontractor progress against project schedules and flag deviations or potential delays.
Identify and report non-conforming work, installation deficiencies, or safety concerns to the Construction Manager or QA/QC team.
Verify that required testing and commissioning activities are performed and review documentation for compliance with project standards.
Utilize project management software (e.g., Procore) to track field performance, manage RFIs, and log quality observations.
Collaborate daily with the Construction Manager and Electrical Manager to resolve field issues, evaluate changes, and support informed decision-making.
Participate in walkdowns, energization readiness reviews, and turnover documentation verification to confirm installed systems meet contractual and design requirements.

- Tower section installation and torque verification
- Nacelle setting and drivetrain alignment
- Hub and blade installation
- Mechanical completion inspections
- Bolt tensioning and QA verification
- Internal tower electrical and cable routing checks
- Pre-commissioning walkdowns and punch list development
- Underground MV collection system installation
- Cable pulling, splicing, and terminations
- Pad-mounted transformer installation
- Switchgear and recloser installation
- Grounding and bonding systems
- Fiber optic installation associated with collection systems
- MV testing verification (megger, hipot, VLF, relay testing as applicable)

Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in WTG inspection, MV electrical inspection, field engineering, or quality control on utility-scale wind projects.
- Strong familiarity with wind turbine installation practices and OEM quality requirements.
- Working knowledge of medium-voltage collection systems (typically 15kV–35kV).
- Ability to interpret electrical one-lines, IFC drawings, cable schedules, splice details, and OEM installation manuals.
- Understanding of torquing procedures, bolt tensioning verification, and mechanical QA documentation.
- Experience reviewing electrical test results and commissioning documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for field reporting and technical documentation.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management or inspection software (e.g., Procore) is preferred.
- Ability to work independently in remote outdoor environments and climb turbines when required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour Construction Safety Certification.
- First Aid / AED / CPR Certification
- Advanced Rescue Training
- Prior experience representing an owner or developer on large-scale wind projects.
- WTG OEM experience (Vestas, GE, Siemens Gamesa, Nordex, etc.) is a plus.
- NCCER, NICET, or related electrical certification.
- Experience supporting commissioning and energization phases of wind projects.
- Tower climb and rescue training, GWO, or OEM specific turbine climb training.
