At NES Fircroft, our commitment to positive change drives us to make strategic investments beyond the workplace. As part of our ongoing environmental commitment, we have worked with our travel partner, ATPI Halo, to offset the carbon impact of our staff travel by supporting several major carbon offsetting initiatives chosen for their proven ability to bring about genuine, lasting ecological and social change worldwide.

We’re investing the funds we offset from our staff travel emissions, supporting two projects so far this year.

Improved Kitchen Regimes - Dowa Boreholes, Malawi Project

Through the Improved Kitchen Regimes Multi-Country Programme, which includes the Dowa Boreholes Project independently verified by the Gold Standard, we are investing in Malawi's clean water infrastructure restoration. Supporting the rehabilitation of vital boreholes enables local populations to obtain safe, clean water without depending on firewood for purification. This conserves valuable forests and wildlife habitats, improves local sanitation and health, and reduces the financial burden of treating waterborne diseases, which can now be used at household levels for other purposes.

Katingan Peatland Restoration and Conservation Project

We’re also investing in the Katingan Peatland Restoration and Conservation Project in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. Independently certified under VCS and CCB criteria, this leading REDD+ project protects a 26,000-year-old peatland that stores almost half a billion tonnes of carbon, which would be released over 60 years without this protection. Through sustainable resource management, the initiative empowers local communities, promotes gender equality, and fosters innovation to produce environmentally friendly goods. The project enhances the quality of life and reduces poverty by creating economic opportunities and sustainable livelihood options.

Investing in a Better Future

These projects are part of our broader strategy to operate sustainably and support the global transition to a low-carbon economy. At NES Fircroft, we believe in more than just offsets and seek to make a substantial impact. We are investing in ecosystems, health, opportunity, and equity.
