Job Title Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Level 5

Overview of role (short statement that explains why the job exists) As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor (AQS) assists in providing financial and contractual aspects of construction projects, providing cost estimation and planning, contract management, financial oversight, risk management, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations on a specific contract. They assist in tender evaluation, negotiate contracts, audit contractor records, and support the preparation of detailed reports to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

  • Commercial support to the PM in managing and administering all contractual relationships.
  • Contract Management – Lead on a specific contract within the portfolio and support the management of overall portfolio.
  • Financial Management – assist in monitoring and managing project spend. Validating payment applications and preparing basic payment certs.
  • Risk Management – support the risk management process and the development of the Risk Register with the PM.
  • Documentation & Reporting – prepare basic commercial and technical commercial minutes.
  • Tender evaluation – assist in the tender evaluation and negotiation process.
  • Dispute Resolution – Lead dispute resolution efforts by assisting in gathering information and documentation.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Experience (attributes considered mandatory/essential to possess to make the shortlist for this role)

  • BSc Quantity Surveying
  • Construction experience, utilities desirable
  • NEC 3 & 4 Options A, C & E
  • RICS Associate (AssocRICS) (Desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience gained in contract management and project management.
