Our client is a well-capitalised, Australian-headquartered renewable energy developer backed by a major global investment group. Established in recent years, the business brings together a highly experienced leadership team with a strong track record across utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects.
With an ambitious growth strategy, they are building out a significant pipeline of renewable and energy storage assets across Australia, with plans to expand further across the APAC region. The organisation is defined by its collaborative culture, long-term project vision, and commitment to delivering reliable, affordable clean energy solutions.
The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a BESS Engineer to support the development, delivery, and ongoing performance of a growing portfolio of battery and hybrid energy projects.
This role will see you working across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage development and technology selection through to construction, commissioning, and operational optimisation. You will play a key role in bridging technical, commercial, and delivery functions, contributing to both project success and broader engineering standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise across BESS projects from development through to operations and asset management
- Undertake technical assessments including preliminary design, system sizing, and layout optimisation
- Support technology selection, including battery systems, inverters, and control systems
- Contribute to grid connection processes and technical inputs
- Assist with procurement activities, including tender evaluations and OEM assessments
- Coordinate external engineering consultants and technical advisors
- Participate in design reviews, construction support, and commissioning activities
- Monitor and assess asset performance, identifying opportunities for optimisation
- Contribute to the development of internal engineering standards, processes, and best practices
- Identify and manage technical and HSE risks across the project lifecycle
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent)
- 3–5 years’ experience working on BESS or energy storage projects
- Strong understanding of battery technologies, inverter systems, and control architectures
- Experience across project lifecycle phases
- Exposure to analysis or system modelling is advantageous
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage across multidisciplinary teams
- Proactive, collaborative approach with a solutions-focused mindset
