About the Opportunity NES Fircroft is seeking experienced and motivated Steel Fixers to support upcoming works associated with the Papua LNG Project in Papua New Guinea.

This opportunity is exclusively available to PNG Nationals and is aimed at skilled construction personnel with previous experience in LNG, oil & gas, mining, infrastructure, civil construction or other major industrial projects.

Successful candidates will work as part of a multidisciplinary construction team and will be responsible for the preparation, placement, tying and installation of reinforcing steel in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, procedures and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities As a Steel Fixer, your responsibilities will include:

• Read and interpret construction drawings, reinforcement drawings, bar schedules and specifications.
• Measure, position, assemble and secure reinforcing steel in accordance with approved drawings and project requirements.
• Cut, bend, place and tie reinforcement bars, mesh and associated steel components as required.
• Install reinforcement for foundations, footings, slabs, columns, beams, walls and other concrete structures.
• Position and secure reinforcement using appropriate tie wire, spacers, chairs and support systems.
• Check reinforcement spacing, dimensions, levels, cover and positioning prior to concrete placement.
• Install starter bars, dowels, cast-in items and other reinforcement components as required.
• Assist with reinforcement inspections and preparation for concrete pours.
• Identify and report damaged, incorrect or non-conforming reinforcement materials.
• Ensure completed reinforcement works meet required drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Work closely with formworkers, concreters, riggers, civil crews, supervisors and other construction personnel.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools and equipment associated with reinforcement activities.
• Assist with the safe handling, movement and positioning of reinforcement materials.
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure work areas remain clean and safe.
• Participate in pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and other project safety activities.
• Follow all site Health, Safety, Security and Environment requirements.
• Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by the Civil Supervisor or Superintendent.

Qualifications & Experience Candidates should ideally have:

• Relevant trade qualification, vocational training or demonstrated competency in steel fixing, reinforcement or civil construction.
• Previous experience as a Steel Fixer on LNG, oil & gas, mining, infrastructure, commercial or major industrial construction projects.
• Experience installing reinforcement for foundations, slabs, walls, columns, beams and other reinforced concrete structures.
• Ability to read and understand reinforcement drawings, construction drawings and bar schedules.
• Experience cutting, bending, positioning and tying reinforcing steel.
• Good understanding of reinforcement spacing, concrete cover and installation requirements.
• Familiarity with reinforcement mesh, starter bars, dowels, chairs, spacers and other reinforcing components.
• Understanding of safe manual handling and lifting practices associated with reinforcement works.
• Ability to work safely around cranes, lifting equipment and rigging operations.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multicultural and multidisciplinary project team.
• Previous LNG or major oil & gas project experience will be highly regarded.

Mandatory Requirements Applicants must:

• Be a Papua New Guinea Citizen / National.
• Hold valid identification and supporting documentation confirming PNG citizenship.
• Hold relevant trade certificates or competency documentation where applicable.
• Be willing to work at designated project locations within Papua New Guinea.
• Be willing and able to work the project roster and scheduled working hours.
• Be medically fit to perform the inherent requirements of the role and successfully complete applicable pre-employment medical requirements.
• Comply with all project alcohol and other drug, safety, security and site access requirements.
