As a Business Analyst, the consultant will serve as the key link between business stakeholders and IT teams, ensuring that business needs are translated into effective technical solutions. You will analyse processes, gather requirements, and support the implementation of systems that enable operational efficiency and strategic objectives. This role requires a mindset of continuous improvement—remaining curious, respectfully critical, and never settling for “we’ve always done it this way.” You will challenge assumptions constructively and collaborate closely with stakeholders to design smarter, future-ready processes.
About the work context
You will be working in the context of the National Control Center (NCC) in the NetCalc Domain. The NCC is the beating heart of the day-to-day electricity management in Belgium. The NetCalc Domain is where we model the grid, build scenarios and do risk analysis. Working in this context is something to be proud of because you are actively contributing to keeping the lights on; literally!
As you are playing such a key role in managing the grid day to day and learning to work in this context requires a serious effort, we are looking for a business analyst who feels the energy to stay on board for at least three years, learning, improving and contributing.

Business Process Modelling
You have a strong passion for business process modelling and you are convinced of the importance of modelling business processes, where expertise and clarity matter more than buzzwords. Your confidence in your approach is essential. You understand the difference between a business process and an application process.
You can show case the ability to Analyse End-to-end business Processes and model Business processes in a structured and effective way, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and BPMN Methodology.
You can take a step back and analyse existing Business Processes for improvements. You understand how business processes realize capabilities and are willing to explore together with our business architect ways to improve client's business architecture.
Information Modelling
In the energy market, accurate information modelling is essential for ensuring that complex data structures reflect real business needs and support critical market processes. As a Business Analyst, you are responsible for structuring and representing business concepts clearly and consistently. This includes modelling information using UML class diagrams while remaining sharp and willing to challenge existing concepts. You should be able to introduce new business concepts, when necessary, propose precise definitions, review and refine existing ones, and work in a structured, concise manner to maintain clarity and alignment across systems. You understand the link between capabilities, information ownership and information models.
Requirements Gathering & Analysis:
Responsible for eliciting, clarifying, and prioritizing Stakeholder and solution requirements both functional and non-functional, in close collaboration with stakeholders and development teams within an Agile framework. This includes facilitating workshops, refining user stories, and ensuring that requirements are well-understood, actionable, and aligned with business objectives. The role demands adaptability, continuous stakeholder engagement, and the ability to challenge assumptions constructively to deliver value-driven solutions. You work closely with the Product Owner to define and refine the backlog.
Solution Design & Validation:
Collaborate closely with the Solution Architect, understanding where your responsibilities end and theirs begin—without stepping into their role. Work together toward shared goals, while constructively challenging proposed solutions to ensure they meet business requirements and objectives in a sustainable, future-proof manner, without “sitting in their chair.” In addition, you represent and safeguard the business architecture during solution design, monitoring that the implementation remains aligned with business principles and strategic objectives.
Testing & Quality Assurance:
Together with the Agile team, you take ownership of parts of testing activities to ensure quality and alignment with business requirements. You contribute to writing clear and comprehensive test cases based on user stories and acceptance criteria, and you support or perform business acceptance testing to validate that delivered solutions meet functional and process expectations.
As part of an Agile approach, you actively participate in sprint reviews and defect triage, bringing business insight to prioritize fixes and improvements. You promote a “test early, test often” mindset, encourage continuous validation throughout the development cycle, and ensure traceability between requirements and test coverage to maintain transparency and accountability.
Documentation
You take ownership of creating clear, structured, and accurate documentation that supports business processes, requirements, and solution design. Beyond producing documentation, you actively work to improve documentation practices within the team, ensuring consistency and usability. You are convinced that good documentation is key to sustainable solutions and effective collaboration, and you provide guidance and advice to stakeholders on best practices for maintaining high-quality documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Leadership
You take ownership and leadership in realizing business needs in alignment with the business architecture. This means not only identifying problems but actively proposing improvements and driving them to implementation. Your role goes beyond analysis—you ensure that solutions deliver real business value, challenge assumptions constructively, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to make change happen.
