Our client, major international project developer, has a permanent opportunity for a Business Development Manager to be based in Houston, TX.
Job Summary
The Business Development Manager will support growth initiatives across Low Carbon Solutions, Clean Hydrogen, Ammonia, Methanol, Upstream & Midstream Oil & Gas, Renewables & Power (including geothermal), and Critical Minerals.
This role will be responsible for originating, evaluating, and executing strategic business opportunities while supporting the commercial development of energy projects across the U.S. market. The successful candidate will lead market and competitor analysis, identify acquisition and investment opportunities, support commercial negotiations, and build strategic partnerships that create long-term value for the organization.
Working cross-functionally with technical, financial, marketing, and executive leadership teams, this individual will play a key role in evaluating new investments, supporting project commercialization, and advancing the company's long-term growth strategy.
This position currently has no direct reports but offers the opportunity to grow into a leadership role as the business expands.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify, originate, and evaluate strategic business opportunities across low-carbon and conventional energy sectors
- Conduct market intelligence, competitor analysis, and commercial assessments to identify high-value investment and acquisition opportunities
- Lead commercial activities supporting project development, including contract drafting, negotiations, commercial structuring, due diligence, and investment evaluations
- Develop financial and economic models to support investment decisions and project evaluations
- Prepare and manage commercial documentation, budgets, reports, risk assessments, and project presentations
- Coordinate internal review and approval processes for commercial activities and project investments
- Support corporate governance activities, including preparation of Board, Shareholder, and Steering Committee materials
- Collaborate closely with technical, finance, legal, and marketing teams throughout project development and execution
- Coordinate with external advisors, financial institutions, partners, and stakeholders throughout project development
- Identify commercial and administrative risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, government agencies, financial institutions, and key stakeholders
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, business meetings, and commercial negotiations
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
- 5–15 years of commercial or business development experience within energy, natural resources, or related industries
- Demonstrated experience originating and evaluating large-scale capital projects (approximately $100MM+ Total Installed Cost preferred)
- Strong experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements alongside legal teams
- Experience preparing financial models, investment evaluations, and commercial business cases
- Excellent communication, presentation, networking, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and commercial decision-making capabilities
- Comfortable working within multicultural and international organizations
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across global teams
- Commercial experience within hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, CCUS, upstream/midstream oil & gas, LNG, renewables, or power markets
- MBA or advanced business qualification
- Experience supporting energy M&A, acquisition evaluations, commercial structuring, or investment analysis
- Experience within sustainable fuels, chemicals, LNG, or critical minerals
- Strong understanding of decarbonization strategies, energy transition technologies, and emerging energy markets
