Job Title: CAD Designer/Drafter – Level II
Location: Baytown, TX (Onsite)
Schedule: 40 hrs/week
Contract Duration: 12 months
Pay Rate: $47/hr

Job Summary
A research and engineering facility is seeking an experienced CAD Designer/Drafter to support design activities for equipment and experiments ranging from benchtop systems to pilot‑scale process research. The role involves developing and maintaining 2D and 3D drawings, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting an increased workload associated with major upcoming projects. Proficiency in Autodesk tools and strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Follow all applicable safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain 2D and 3D CAD drawings such as PFDs, P&IDs, one‑lines, layouts, plans, sections, and details using Autodesk products and other CAD platforms.
  • Translate rough or conceptual designs into accurate, detailed working drawings.
  • Produce computer‑generated drawings, isometrics, details, plans, and bills of materials.
  • Revise and update drawings based on feedback from engineering or operations teams, using established Management of Change (MOC) processes.
  • Maintain and update Autodesk Vault as the primary repository for technical documentation.
  • Coordinate effectively with multiple engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
  • Communicate progress, potential issues, and key updates to project teams in a timely manner.

Job Requirements
  • Associate degree in Drafting, a technical diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of relevant CAD design or drafting experience.
  • Proficiency in both 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk products required; AutoCAD and Vault preferred).
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines, high workloads, and frequent priority changes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while prioritizing multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with process‑industry drawings (e.g., PFDs, P&IDs, general arrangements).
  • Familiarity with document control systems and technical documentation databases.
  • Experience with 3D scanning and digital workflow enhancement tools.
  • Understanding of project planning and execution processes.
