About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Commissioning DCS Operator to join a major Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in West Bromwich during its critical Hot Commissioning phase.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile project and play a key role in bringing the plant safely through commissioning and into commercial operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring plant processes from the Distributed Control System (DCS), ensuring safe, efficient and stable plant performance throughout commissioning activities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in EfW process operations and DCS control room activities, rather than being purely field-based or instrument-focused. We are specifically looking for individuals who have operated plant processes from the control room during commissioning phases and can confidently monitor and control the entire operation through the DCS.
Candidates with extensive DCS commissioning experience on EfW projects and exposure to Valmet/Metso systems will be highly regarded.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring plant processes from the Distributed Control System (DCS), ensuring safe, efficient and stable plant performance throughout commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the EfW plant via the Distributed Control System (DCS).
- Control and optimise plant processes during hot commissioning activities.
- Monitor plant parameters, alarms, trends and process deviations from the control room.
- Support commissioning, start-up, testing and performance guarantee activities.
- Identify process issues and work closely with commissioning engineers, operations teams and contractors to resolve them.
- Ensure plant operation is conducted in accordance with safety, environmental and operational procedures.
Essential
- Minimum 5 years' commissioning experience within Energy from Waste (EfW) facilities.
- Proven experience operating plant processes from a Distributed Control System (DCS) during commissioning and start-up phases.
- Strong understanding of EfW plant operations, combustion processes, steam generation and associated balance of plant systems.
- Experience working as a Control Room Operator, DCS Operator, Operations Technician or Process Operator within an EfW environment.
- Experience supporting hot commissioning, plant start-up and performance testing activities.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Previous experience using Valmet or Metso DCS systems.
- Experience on large-scale power generation, waste-to-energy, biomass or thermal generation projects.
- Relevant process operations, power generation or engineering qualifications.
