Function Description
The Senior Planner is accountable for the development, integration, and control of the project schedule and provides planning expertise to support effective project execution, decision‑making, and governance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain fully integrated Level 3 EPC/EPCM project schedules covering Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning.
- Establish and manage the project baseline schedule in line with the approved Basis of Schedule and change control processes.
- Perform monthly schedule updates, including progress measurement, data collection, and comparison against the baseline.
- Monitor critical path and near‑critical activities and identify schedule risks and emerging trends.
- Perform schedule impact assessments for changes, risks, and variations, supporting management decision‑making.
- Implement and maintain progress measurement systems (PMS), including progress curves and earned value indicators where applicable.
- Carry out schedule risk analysis, what‑if scenarios, and schedule optimisation / compression studies.
- Prepare schedule inputs for monthly project reporting, management reviews, and ad‑hoc progress updates.
- Interface with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Contractors to ensure schedule alignment and data accuracy.
- Participate in planning and coordination meetings, providing clear planning insight and recommendations.
- Apply planning best practices and ensure consistency with project controls and governance requirements.
Key requirements
The Senior Planner is expected to work independently within a structured project controls environment, demonstrating strong technical planning skills and professional judgement.
Key requirements include:
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5–10+ years of experience in project Construction planning on large, complex projects.
- Strong experience in EPCM project environments, preferably within energy, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
- Proven capability in developing and maintaining Level 3 project schedules.
- Advanced working knowledge of Primavera P6 (mandatory).
- Solid understanding of critical path methodology (CPM), schedule logic, and baseline/change control.
- Structured, proactive, and detail‑oriented working style with a strong sense of ownership.
- Experience with progress measurement, earned value concepts, and reporting curves.
- Demonstrated ability to perform schedule change and impact analysis.
- Experience working in site‑based project environments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to clearly communicate schedule status, risks, and mitigation actions.
