We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent who will be reporting to the Client's Area Construction Lead. The Construction Superintendent will be an early and core member of the Construction team, supporting the successful execution of the Expansion Project.

Key elements of the role will include:
- Rapid identification and resolution of construction issues impacting schedule or quality
- Ensure construction activities are delivered in full compliance with Work Method Statements, design specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Close coordination with the EPC contractor’s counterpart to anticipate risks and implement mitigation strategies early
- Drive best-in-class construction practices to support safe and efficient execution
Specific accountabilities for this role are as follows:
HSSE
- Strong site leadership role, setting expectations with EPC Contractor to achieve the Goal Zero ambition.
- Drive HSSE performance of the EPC Contractor and Sub-Contractors through day to day engagement in the field.
- Positively and constructively intervene when any potentially unsafe act is observed.
- Prevent incidents through validation of implementation of planned HSE controls by EPC Contractor and subcontractors before the activity starts
- Drive to understand root causes of unsafe behaviours, situations and incidents through analysis and driving EPC Contractor to overcome these root causes with subcontractors.
- Support a learning culture within Company to continuously improve HSSE performance.
- Ensure that design Technical Integrity in Construction is met by verifying that Technical Authorities and SME’s are engaged and present for required field inspections.
- Ensure SIMOPs being effectively managed at field-level.
- Ensure required environmental controls for the works are in place and functioning, and promptly report any observed gaps to the EPC Contractor and Owner Environmental representative.
- Be a visible leader and a consistent advocate for the Behavioral Based Safety and Care for People site programs.
- Monitor construction progress of key activities and evaluate plan vs actual progress.
- Ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with plans, procedures, and quality standards.
- Supervise and monitor critical construction activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution
- Pro-actively identify EPC contractor bottlenecks affecting productivity or sequencing and propose solutions.
- Pro-actively identify constructability improvements and share with rest of owner’s team and the EPC contractor for potential implementation.
- Support resolution of technical queries, field changes, and design deviations during construction.
- Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities impacting construction delivery.
- Produce daily activity report to document construction activities and any observed issues in Tank and BOG area.
- Foster a culture of ‘right first time’ and drive towards top quartile quality management
- Ensure that construction proceeds in accordance with approved design and specifications, and promptly flag instances where gaps are observed.
- Drive to understand root causes of poor workmanship and share information on observed trends with rest of Owner’s team.
- Conduct spot checks to ensure effective closure of punch items during completions phase by verifying that required work has been implemented for closed punch items.
- Champion Flawless Project Delivery, supporting effective transition from Construction / Pre-Com to Commissioning.
- Observe work in the field to gain deep understanding of actual progress and causes of any gaps vs plan
- Proactively identify weak leading indicators with respect to progress, including poor interface management, productivity, and labor shortages
- Influence the EPC Contractor to prevent and recover from delays through a deep understanding of work fronts and resources needed to meet the plan
- Monitor key milestones to ensure construction follows the correct sequence and encourage the Contractor to avoid out-of-sequence work and ensure work construction completion to facilitate efficient completion of CSU scheduled activities.
- Contribute to keep the risk register & mitigation actions related to Tank and BOG up-to-date.
- Conduct regular risk reviews.
- Develop strong Client/ Contractor relationship with the EPC Contractor and Subcontractors including Tank Subcontractor

- Support the transition to Mechanical Completion and Commissioning by attending Mechanical Completion walkdowns when needed and ensuring timely closure of punch list items.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive hands-on experience in oil and gas construction (mechanical or civil background preferred), with demonstrated experience in supervisory/leadership positions.
- Strong contractor management experience with EPC contracts on large or mega projects
- Strong understanding of construction sequences and SIMOPS
- Proven ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to quickly (pro-actively) identify issues and propose recommendations
- Excellent communication and relationship skills.
- Previous experience on LNG plants or projects
- Experience with fabricated module installation and hook-up at site
- Experience with LNG Tank construction and/or cryogenic systems. This is desirable but not essential.
- Experience with site installation/hookup of rotating equipment.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Are willing to work outdoors in all seasons during inclement weather.
- Are willing to comply with Company's drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, a background check, a driving record check and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
