You’ll coordinate on-shift operations and be responsible for the safe operation of all plant equipment across all operating scenarios — from cold startups to emergency system responses.

This is a Control Room Operator (CRO) role that emphasizes autonomous decision-making, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and leadership. You’ll use distributed control systems (DCS) and computerized systems to monitor and adjust plant operations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor plant systems via DCS computers, making real-time adjustments as needed.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and make decisions on non-routine or escalated problems.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to plant performance improvements.

  • Manage chemical analyses and control of steam, cooling, and condensate systems; maintain related logs.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and site procedures.

  • Perform duties like maintaining plant security and operating heavy equipment (e.g., manlifts, forklifts); handle bulk chemicals safely.

Required Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong troubleshooting, control systems, and operational decision-making capability.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and control system interfaces like DCS.

  • Mechanical aptitude plus working knowledge of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.

Licensing / Experience
  • Massachusetts 2nd Class Engineer license required (this reflects a regulatory requirement for the position).

  • Experience with industrial plant operations, control systems, and preventative chemistry/boiler systems preferred.
