Project Cost Controller
Location: Charenton‑le‑Pont, France (Occasional remote work)
Start Date: 4 May 2026
Duration: Initial 6‑month - Mission expected to exceed 6 months
Role Overview
Within the framework of the Centre’s projects, the Project Cost Controller acts as a key support to the Project Manager, ensuring robust cost control, financial visibility, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
You will be responsible for monthly consolidation of the Project Status Report (PSR) and for ensuring alignment between costs, resources, schedules, and identified risks, in close collaboration with all project stakeholders.
With a global view of all project phases and a strong understanding of project activities, you will proactively anticipate cost deviations and propose mitigation and corrective action plans to secure project objectives.

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities Project Execution Phase
- Contribute to the identification and quantification of project risks
- Ensure the validated allocation of resources (hours) across activities and their consistency with the project schedule
- Lead the monthly risk & opportunity monitoring process
- Prepare, maintain, and consolidate the monthly Project Status Report (PSR)
- Define the project cost breakdown structure
- Develop and maintain cost forecasts aligned with contractual terms, pricing sheets, resource plans by discipline, and the approved execution strategy
- Establish budgets for each tender and purchase order
- Maintain Estimate at Completion (EAC) based on committed costs and remaining expenditures and analyze variances with discipline leads
- Anticipate cost deviations using bill of quantities and pricing tools and propose mitigation actions in coordination with the Project Manager
- Propose preventive and corrective actions to control or anticipate cost overruns
- Ensure cost forecasts are validated by relevant stakeholders
- Prepare and update all monthly reporting deliverables
- Alert stakeholders of current or potential cost deviations
- Communicate clearly on cost status, risks, and trends
- Conduct quarterly reviews with the estimator on cost evolution
- Define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Track project Non‑Conformities (NCs) and validate Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) impacts versus budget
- Deliver project reporting in line with client standards, including:
- Project schedule
- Planned vs. actual resource loading
- Physical, Engineering, Procurement & Construction progress
- S‑Curves and SRA
- Budget and hours variance
- Project Operating Income
- Update ERP systems (SAP)
- Monthly update of:
- Project staffing plan (with discipline reviews)
- Cash flow forecasts
- Quarterly update of:
- Revenue & margin forecasts according to IFRS standards
- Final delivery of the Project Capitalization File (Air Liquide format)
- Cost Control / Project Controls: Expert level
- Budget Tracking & Forecasting: Expert level
- SAP / SAP Business Objects: Expert level
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to manage complex financial data
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills
- English: Bilingual (mandatory)
