Job Dimensions:
• Ensure full management of the Project’s airspace security, including all UAS (drone) operations and C-UAS (counter‑drone) systems.
• Plan, conduct, and supervise security flight missions (surveillance, reconnaissance, area assessment) in coordination with Area 4, the civil aviation authority and all UAS/C‑UAS service providers.
• Coordinate with local aviation authorities and internal teams involved in air-related security operations.
• Maintain continuous Airspace Situational Awareness (ASA) for all critical activities.
• Ensure all airspace security operations comply with Security SOPs, VPSHR, and applicable regulations.
• Provide daily analysis, reports, and alerts on aerial, onshore and offshore activity around the Project area.
• Supervise drone and counter‑drone teams, ensuring qualification, discipline, and adherence to operational standards.
• Ensuring that multimillion-dollar systems are installed correctly, function correctly and are used to maximum effect for the project
Activities:
• Implementing a HSE system in conjunction with site HSE ensuring all work carried out is 100% safety compliant in terms of the 12 golden rules as prescribed by Total, and air safety standards for UAS / C‑UAS operations.
• Plan and conduct UAS missions (surveillance, risk assessment, monitoring of sensitive areas).
• In cooperation with Area4, coordinate C‑UAS systems (radars, RF detectors, jamming systems, authorized interception procedures).
• Ensure continuous operational liaison with Area 4 for joint or supporting aerial security missions.
• Supervise flight authorization processes, No‑Fly Zones, and secure aerial corridors.
• Monitor and report all aerial activity, including unauthorized drone presence or C‑UAS alerts.
• Maintain permanent contact with civil and military aviation authorities regarding local airspace use.
• Document and report all airspace security incidents or airspace violations.
• Ensure maintenance and operational readiness of UAS, batteries, ground stations, radars, RF systems, and all related equipment.
• Train internal teams on drone‑related risks and airspace security procedures.
• Presenting innovative and easy to implement ideas and solutions to various issues that might be faced by the project.
• Continuous availability in case of emergency.
• Drafting the necessary documentation for all system related tenders, Bills of quantities, estimated costs, Scopes of work for the eventual contracts
Activities:
The function of the Security access control coordinator is to ensure that the following takes place:
1. Guarantee full airspace security over Project installations and areas of operation.
2. Ensure safe, compliant, and effective use of UAS and C‑UAS systems.
3. Deliver reliable reporting on aerial activity, threats, and system status.
4. Ensure VPSHR compliance with all airspace operations interacting with civilians or populated areas.
5. Supervise all personnel and contractors involved in drone and counter‑drone operations.
6. Follow up on all related maintenance issues and ensuring systems are always functional, and a minimum of downtime is experienced for operations to continue safely.
7. Ensuring that Safety is always a priority in all works carried out both on and off site and that a complete HSE plan is developed and maintained throughout the duration of all works related to the project.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in air operations management, UAS or C-UAS operations (military, police, aviation, industrial security).
• Strong understanding of drone and counter-drone tactics and technologies (RF, radar, EO/IR, jamming).
• Knowledge of UAS regulations (ICAO guidance, local aviation authority rules).
• Solid background in airspace security risk assessment.
• Experience coordinating with military or security forces.
• Fluent in English (mandatory). Portuguese/Swahili is an asset depending on the operational environment.
• Strong computer skills (situational awareness tools, reporting, mapping systems).
• No criminal record.
• Valid driver’s license and passport.
